Mrs Ramona Cirlig joined the international conference on “The Energy Charter Treaty and Dispute Resolution Mechanisms”, organized by the International Hellenic University in collaboration with the University of Cyprus, under the auspices of ICC Hellas, and sponsored by the Research and Innovation Foundation, with a presentation on “The Energy Charter Treaty before the European Court for Human Rights: energy disputes and human rights, friends or foes?”.
Mrs Cîrlig was a speaker at the workshop on the “Recognition of Non-EU Judgments in the EU Member States” held by EAPIL Young Research Network. She was part of the panel on "The requirement of reciprocity: application and relevance". Her presentation tackled the requirement of reciprocity for the recognition of non-EU judgments under Romanian law. The workshop was wonderfully hosted at the Permanent Bureau of the HCCH - Hague Conference on Private International Law in collaboration with the CILC Project Balkan Enforcement Strengthening Project (BESp).
Mrs. Ramona Cirlig was awarded the prestigious “Viorel Mihai Ciobanu” Award in the field of civil procedural law and private international law for the book “Conflict of Laws in International Arbitration”, during the 2022 Gala of the Romanian Lawyers Union. The book is based on Ramona’s Ph.D thesis “Determination of the Law Applicable to the Procedure and Merits in International Arbitration, with Special Regard to Investment Arbitration”. The book tackles the mechanisms and criteria used by the arbitral tribunals for determining the law applicable to the proceedings and to the merits of the dispute, starting from the theories, views and mentalities reflected in the literature, in the national laws and in the arbitration rules, however, especially focusing on the analysis of the arbitration case-law to identify and extract patterns, models, good practice or repetitive practice adopted or preferred by arbitrators in the settlement of the issues of private international law.
